Simplified Tajweed

Sister Fazila is the founder of Sacred Light. She has a BA in Education and Post-Graduate diploma in Teaching from the University of South Africa. Fazila began her studies in Classical Arabic and Islam at university and furthered her studies in Arabic with the Jordanian institute Qibla. She holds an Ijazah in Qur’an recitation with Tajweed (in the riwaya of Hafs an Asim) with a connected chain of transmission. She has developed Madressa syllabi for children and was a madressa principal for many years teaching Quran and Islamic Studies.

Ruqayya holds a BA degree from the University of Queensland in Religion and Philosophy. She received her Ijazah in the recitation of Hafs an Asim in Damascus, in Syria in 2001. Her teaching journey commenced with Quran and Tajweed instruction for women and children in Brisbane, Australia. Since 2015, she has been committed to teaching Tajweed classes both in person and online for women in Durban, South Africa. She has actively improved her expertise in Tajweed by attending various courses and workshops, learning from respected instructors like Ustaadha Saima Yacoob and Ustaadha Kareema Czerepinski. She is currently completing an advanced level tajweed course with the Society for the Preservation of The Holy Quran in Jordan
