ARB101 – Introduction To Quranic Arabic

This class focuses on linguistic analysis of the grammar and vocabulary of the Quran with the aim of bringing about  an understanding of the Quranic Text. The focus of ARB101 is on foundational Arabic grammar and analysis of Quranic ayah to illustrate grammar application.

Course Information

Duration: One 1.5 hour live class held every week in a virtual classroom setting. Students are required to commit between 3 to 6 hours each week for self-study to complete allocated work. This includes watching presentations and submitting assignments.

Requirements: A laptop/computer, or ipad/tablet or mobile phone is needed to access course material and live sessions. For the best experience, a laptop is recommended, as well a headset to listen to presentations and participate in live classes without disruption. Access to a printer is also needed to print out assignments. Completed assignments need to be scanned and submitted. This can be done either with a mobile phone or scanner.

Fazila Adam Fazila Adam Instructor

Sister Fazila is the founder of Sacred Light. She has a BA in Education and Post-Graduate diploma in Teaching from the University of South Africa. Fazila began her studies in Classical Arabic and Islam at university and furthered her studies in Arabic with the Jordanian institute Qibla. She holds an Ijazah in Qur’an recitation with Tajweed (in the riwaya of Hafs an Asim) with a connected chain of transmission. She has developed Madressa syllabi for children and was a madressa principal for many years teaching Quran and Islamic Studies.

Jamilah Solwa Jamilah Solwa Instructor

Sister Jamilah is an experienced teacher and educator. Born and raised in South Africa, she is a qualified Optometrist, but her passion for the Qur’an drew her to teaching Arabic. She has a comprehensive knowledge of Arabic Grammar having studied with Bayyinah Institute, Qutoof Academy and Alhuda Institute.

Haleema Ismail Haleema Ismail Instructor

Sister Haleema is an alumna of Sacred Light. Born in Zimbabwe, she raised her sons in Australia and her dedication and love of Qur’an were instrumental in two of her sons becoming Hafidh Al-Qur’an. She currently teaches Arabic at Sacred Light and is presently working towards her Ijaazah in Tajweed under the guidance of our esteemed teacher Ustadha Noura Abu Ghazaleh in Brisbane.

Shaida Gutta Shaida Gutta Instructor

Sister Shaida is an alumna of Sacred Light, having completed 3 years of Arabic. Born and raised in South Africa, she qualified as a doctor, before moving to Australia in 1999. Being actively involved in the Islamic education of her 4 boys, she discovered her love for the Quran and her desire to try to understand it.. She is currently enrolled with Jannah Institute and is in her third year of studies.
